In a single Simcenter SCADAS Mobile slot, the eight-channel DB8III(c) supports multiple signal conditioning, A/D conversion, and signal processing functions, offering a unique combination of strain, vibration, displacement, pressure measurements, and more in a single module. The DB8III(c) is the most versatile solution for multiphysics measurement campaigns.

Signal conditioning
Multiple signal conditioners per channel allow each input channel to be configured to support a wide variety of sensors.
DC-coupled voltage input
ICP® input for accelerometers, load cells, and strain gauges
DC bridge to support Wheatstone bridge types, e.g., strain gauges in full, half, and quarter-bridge configurations, as well as DC accelerometers/pressure transducers.
Carrier frequency (AC bridge) supports strain gauges in full, half, and quarter-bridge configurations, as well as inductive half-bridges.
Active sensors such as MEMS or variable capacitance
LVDT sensors for measuring displacement or rotation
Potentiometers for measuring linear displacement
4–20 mA transducers for measuring pressure or temperature (SCX-CAS10 cable required).
Class 1 TEDS (ICP sensors) and Class 2 TEDS (DC sensors) are supported in accordance with the IEEE 1451.4 standard.
Analog-to-digital conversion
The DB8III(c) uses power-efficient, high-performance 24-bit sigma-delta analog-to-digital converters with a maximum bandwidth of 5 kHz. Each ADC is preceded by a four-pole analog anti-aliasing filter. A selectable range of 150 dB/oct. digital decimation filters reduces the bandwidth in steps of 2 and 2.5 and ensures 100 dB of aliasing rejection across all measurement bandwidths.
Signal processing
The DB8III(c) is equipped with an energy-efficient, high-performance DSP and integrated memory for decimation, online calibration, and online broadband RMS calculation—regardless of the number of channels.
Anomaly Detection and Reporting
Overload and underload are detected in digital data sampled at the ADC sampling rate prior to decimation. The input signals are inherently band-limited (strain gauges or DC accelerometers). The power consumption of the channels and modules is monitored for bridge-based and active sensors. If the available power is exceeded, an overload of the channel or module is indicated by the channel LEDs.
