Its exceptionally wide dynamic range and support for dynamic strain measurements make the VBDS4-RT an ideal module for testing aircraft engines.

Wheatstone bridge measurements
In Wheatstone bridge mode, the VBDS4-RT supports full-bridge, half-bridge, and quarter-bridge configurations under full software control. Bridge completion for 120-Ω and 350-Ω bridges is also included. Automatic bridge balancing using proven current injection technology compensates for bridge asymmetries without altering bridge sensitivity, while simultaneously reducing bridge distortion to a minimum. A high-precision 100-kΩ resistor connected to the bridge via shunt and measurement leads supports shunt calibration
Monitoring output
Each input channel has a corresponding monitoring output via grounded CAMAC connectors. The monitoring output offers selectable RAW, RMS, and peak modes.
Dynamic strain measurements
For measuring signals from strain gauges, the VBDS4-RT supports a balanced constant-current supply that offers improved common-mode rejection. Combined with an AC-coupled input for single-strain measurements using only two or four wires, this enables the measurement of dynamic strains with an optimal signal-to-noise ratio. Fail-safe operation is guaranteed even in the event of an accidental short circuit of one side of the strain gauge to ground (e.g., due to cable damage).

The bridge current can be set individually for each channel. The VBDS4-RT supports piezoelectric ICP sensors.– The VBDS4-RT supports a wide range of current-powered piezoelectric ICP sensors, such as accelerometers or microphones. Transducer Electronic Data Sheet (TEDS). The VBDS4-RT supports the IEEE 1451.4 TEDS standard for Class 1 and 2 ICP sensors. EtherCAT Support EtherCAT is a real-time network used in test benches or automation applications that require short data update times (low latency) with extremely low communication jitter for synchronization purposes.
