Using the Simcenter Testlab Instrumentation app, the technician can edit and view the channel settings of the Simcenter Testlab data acquisition applications while instrumenting the test object, without having to record information on paper to avoid transcription errors later. Several features integrated into the Simcenter Testlab Instrumentation App make test instrumentation simple and convenient—for example, by automatically searching a predefined sensor database in Simcenter Testlab when the user enters the sensor’s serial number.

In addition, images captured with the Simcenter Testlab Instrumentation App are transferred directly to the Simcenter Testlab project, where they can be used for documentation and reporting purposes. The Simcenter Testlab Instrumentation App works closely with the Simcenter Testlab Acquisition Application, both in offline mode (no Simcenter SCADAS front-end hardware connected) and in front-end mode (connected to Simcenter SCADAS front-end hardware), provided both applications are connected to the same wireless network.
